PSSL Darkroom: Preserving the Legacy of Analog Photography
The PSSL Darkroom at the Lionel Wendt Memorial Art Centre has quickly become a cornerstone for Sri Lanka’s analog photography community since its reopening in August 2024. With its rich history rooted in the very location where Lionel Wendt himself pursued his artistic vision, the darkroom stands as both a tribute to the past and a gateway to the future of film photography.

Currently, we offer professional film development services, providing photographers with a trusted space to process their work with care and precision. This essential service is just the beginning of our journey to restore and expand the practices that make analog photography so unique.
The PSSL Darkroom is more than just a facility; it is a meeting ground for photographers, artists, and creators who share a passion for the craft. Whether you’re a seasoned film photographer or new to the world of analog, this space invites you to connect, learn, and immerse yourself in the art form.
Film Drop-Off
For now, film drop-offs will be accepted exclusively at the Lionel Wendt Memorial Art Centre. In the coming months, we aim to expand to additional locations, making it even easier for photographers across the island to access our services.
Simply drop off your film roll in a secure envelope provided at the darkroom, complete the accompanying form, and we’ll handle the rest. Payment must be completed before processing, with receipts issued for every transaction.
Film Development Pricing:
- Standard (7-day turnaround): Rs. 4,000
- Express (2-day turnaround): Rs. 6,000
Looking ahead, we are actively working to introduce manual printing facilities and workshops to enrich the experience for our community. These future offerings will further elevate the creative possibilities available to analog enthusiasts in Sri Lanka.
